It is important to note that bad posture is associated with many health problems. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Poor posture contributes to:<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/netpacestudios.com\/mma\/physical-therapy-services\/neck-and-back-pain-relief\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Back pain and neck pain<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/netpacestudios.com\/mma\/physical-therapy-services\/headaches-pain-relief\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Headaches and migraines<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changes in breathing patterns affecting your blood chemistry<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poor digestion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Difficulty walking<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poor balance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of endurance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/netpacestudios.com\/mma\/physical-therapy-services\/sports-injuries\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poor athletic performance<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Why you slouch<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have different muscles in your core and deep spine that help you maintain a more upright posture. These muscles are used for long duration contractions to keep your body properly aligned. However, like with all muscles, the less you use them, the more they atrophy and the less they can do their job. With today\u2019s sedentary lifestyles, sitting at work, driving in the car, watching TV, etc., these muscles become weaker and weaker. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>What you should do<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be more aware of your posture throughout the day and take frequent breaks to move around, be taller, re-adjust your seat.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work on exercises that strengthen your core muscles and your mid back muscles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do stretching exercises with your back on a wall or lying flat on the ground, moving your arms overhead.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walk or run everyday, trying to be as tall as possible while doing so.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be more conscious of your breathing during the day. Take deep breathes in a better posture, which helps to mobilize your spine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evaluate your workspace. Is it set up correctly? Is your computer in front of you or off to the side? Is your chair high enough?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid soft couches and recliners for long durations, these cause poor posture.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sleep on your back or side with pillows between or behind your knees depending on your position.
